Zen Word for Better Communication #4 全機現 Zenkigen

A state in which one is demonstrating the full extent of one’s abilities.

Everything in the universe performs its own function. In human society, each individual makes use of his or her own talents and strengths.

Everything is constantly changing, and there is no guarantee that current methods will continue to be useful. It is important to utilize one’s strengths, respond flexibly to change, and demonstrate one’s abilities.

Why are Japanese teams, which are physically disadvantaged compared to Western teams in world-class competitions, so successful? In team sports such as soccer, baseball, and volleyball, each individual puts aside his or her obsession and pride and fully demonstrates his or her ability in the assigned position, achieving “Zenkigen” through teamwork rather than individual play. – K.
