Zen Word for Better Communication #32 脚下照顧 Kyakka-shohko

It is important to look firmly at your own foundation and live with sincerity and care.

Correct your own restlessness and arrogance, then approach your tasks.

Start with the things closest to you.  For example, greet people politely.  Keep one promise faithfully.  Never forget to express gratitude.  The accumulation of such actions creates a positive atmosphere. By focusing on your surroundings, you can carefully take the next step.

In business, repeatedly asking yourself small questions – such as whether your decisions align with your principles or if you’ve forgotten to show consideration for your colleagues – helps you earn trust and leads to growth.

If you want to succeed in the Japanese market, it is crucial to first re-examine your company’s values and stance before pursuing short-term results.  That is the ”Kyakka-shohko” approach. – K.Kato
